About this event:
Unsustainable hospital prices have reached a crisis point. Policymakers, consumer advocates, employers, and other healthcare purchasers urgently need strategies to improve access to care at lower prices. The 32BJ Health Fund, 32BJ Labor Industry Cooperation Fund, and City & State will host a daylong conference exploring actionable tactics to change the playbook.
Keynote speaker Mark Cuban, co-founder of Cost Plus Drugs, will share his experience developing direct purchasing models that bypass traditional insurance, hospital, and pharmacy benefit manager markups to reduce healthcare costs.
Alongside networking opportunities, participants will learn about:
- Drivers of high hospital prices
- Potential state and local policy solutions
- Purchasing strategies employers can deploy
- How employers, unions, and advocates can work together to achieve maximum results
The 32BJ Health Fund provides quality, affordable health benefits to more than 200,000 32BJ union members and their families. SEIU 32BJ members include property service workers up and down the East Coast. The 32BJ Labor Industry Cooperation Fund is a joint initiative between SEIU 32BJ—a union of 185,000 building service workers—and the Realty Advisory Board on Labor Relations, focused on containing rising healthcare costs, including tackling out-of-control hospital prices, for 32BJ members and employers in New York City and surrounding areas.
This in-person event is free. Advance registration is required.
