Pennsylvania’s Biggest Contracting Opportunities

1 hour

One of Gov. Josh Shapiro’s goals was to increase opportunities for small and small diverse businesses to secure prime contracts while raising the revenue limit so more small businesses can qualify. In December 2024, the Administration along with DCED created the $20 million Historically Disadvantaged Business Assistance Program which will provide grants for qualified nonprofits, economic development organizations and educational institutions to create Business Assistance Service Centers. How can we promote productive capital spending, encourage public/private partnerships and design build, and make sure SDBs can fit into the implementation of major government projects? This panel will break down new projects and opportunities in Pennsylvania, including transportation, construction, technology, energy, and more.

Impact of Pennsylvania’s SDB Programs

1 hour

Since taking office, the Shapiro-Davis Administration has grown statewide contracting opportunities for small diverse businesses (SDBs) and continues to launch comprehensive training and outreach programs to help guide them through registering with the state and bidding on Commonwealth contracts. In this panel, we will explore how the Shapiro administration has been working with the PA Bureau of Diversity, Inclusion & Small Business Opportunities (BDISBO) and keeping its promises to level the playing field for more small and diverse businesses throughout the Commonwealth. What are some of the roadblocks that have kept small businesses from participating in this program, and what role can Pennsylvania's labor community and government officials play in providing these businesses with the tools they need to succeed?
